The Restaurant

There are very few places in London where you can sit at a marble counter in Mayfair and work through five varieties of sturgeon caviar side by side. The Caviar Bar is one of them.

We opened in Hanover Square with a single ambition: to serve the finest caviar in London, properly, in a room that does it justice. The counter seats guests along a run of white marble. The kitchen is open. The tins arrive. Everything else follows from that.


The counter

The room is built around simplicity. A single marble counter, an open kitchen, and the focused quiet of a place that knows exactly what it is. There are no distractions from the caviar — which is the point.

Every variety in our range is available to order at the counter: Royal Baerii, Oscietra, Imperial Caviar, Royal Kaluga and Royal Beluga. Each arrives in the tin with a mother-of-pearl spoon. Our kitchen prepares the accompaniments — warm blinis, crème fraîche, soft-boiled eggs, potato — to the same standard we hold our retail range to.


A note on the experience

The counter format is not accidental. Sitting at marble, close to the kitchen, watching your tin opened in front of you — it puts the caviar at the centre of the meal rather than the side. We find that guests who have eaten caviar many times discover something new at the counter. And guests who have never tried it find it less intimidating and more memorable than they expected.
