The Caviar Bar was founded on a simple conviction: that the finest caviar in the world should be accessible to anyone who wants it — not just those with a table at a Michelin-starred restaurant or a contact at a specialist importer. We set out to change that, operating from the heart of Mayfair with a commitment to quality, traceability, and service that we believe is unmatched in the UK.
Where our caviar comes from
We source directly from a carefully selected group of accredited aquaculture farms across Europe and Asia. Every farm we work with operates under EU or equivalent food safety standards, with full traceability from egg to tin. We do not buy from brokers or intermediaries. We import directly, which means we control quality at every stage and our customers receive fresher caviar at a fairer price than the traditional supply chain allows.
All products are supplied under full UK CITES documentation — the international convention governing the trade of protected species including sturgeon. Our SALSA accreditation (Code 10238) covers our entire import, handling, and fulfilment operation. Every batch is traceable to its farm of origin.
Freshly packed to order
We do not hold large stocks of pre-packed tins sitting in a warehouse. Every order is packed fresh to order from refrigerated stock maintained at −3°C to +2°C throughout. This is not a marketing claim — it is how caviar should be handled. The difference between caviar that has been freshly packed and caviar that has been sitting in a distribution centre for weeks is immediately apparent in the texture, flavour, and finish of the roe.
Every tin is dispatched in our branded insulated cooler bag with gel ice packs. Shelf life from dispatch is a minimum of 90 days unopened — the longest in the industry for freshly packed malossol caviar.
Five varieties. One standard.
Our range spans five sturgeon species, from the clean, accessible entry of Royal Baerii to the extraordinary delicacy of Royal Beluga — the rarest caviar in the world. Between them sit Oscietra, the connoisseur’s everyday choice; Royal Kaluga, known as River Beluga; and Imperial Caviar, our exclusive Kaluga Hybrid with no direct UK equivalent.
Every variety is graded to the same standard — malossol (less than 4% salt), minimum grain sizes strictly enforced, colour and texture assessed by hand.
